About this product
The SOCKETED NRV BALL TYPE CI 3" is a cast iron ball-type non-return valve designed for compatible irrigation and water-delivery pipe systems. Its socketed threaded connection provides a practical way to install the valve in suitable pipework. The ball-type mechanism helps prevent reverse flow when correctly installed in the appropriate flow direction.
Key features
- Cast iron construction
- Ball-type non-return mechanism
- Socketed threaded connection
- Designed for compatible irrigation and water-delivery pipework
- Accessible for inspection and cleaning
Where it's used
- Smaller submersible and openwell pump delivery lines
- Threaded delivery runs where a flanged valve is not required
- Replacement of compatible threaded check/non-return valves
- Irrigation and water-delivery installations
Benefits
- Ball-type mechanism provides automatic non-return action when correctly installed
- No spring or diaphragm mechanism
- Socketed threaded connection simplifies installation where compatible
- Helps maintain the water column between pump operating cycles when correctly installed
- Cast iron body provides a substantial valve construction
- Can be opened, inspected and cleaned when servicing is required
Installation recommendations
1. Confirm the valve size and thread compatibility with the mating pipe or fitting. 2. Check the flow direction before installation; install the valve in the correct direction of flow. 3. Clean and inspect the threads and valve interior. 4. Apply a suitable thread sealant compatible with the system. 5. Start the threaded connection by hand to avoid cross-threading. 6. Tighten using a wrench on the valve body; do not apply excessive force to the adjoining pipe. 7. Keep the valve accessible for future inspection and cleaning. 8. After installation, check the joint and valve operation during initial commissioning.

Before you buy
What is a ball-type NRV?
A non-return valve that uses a ball-type internal mechanism to restrict reverse flow when correctly installed.
Which direction should the valve be installed?
Follow the marked or intended flow direction. Installing it in reverse can restrict the required flow.
Why is the line draining back after the pump stops?
Check the valve for incorrect installation, debris on the ball or seat, or damage to the internal sealing surfaces.
Does the valve require regular servicing?
Inspect it when symptoms such as reverse flow or poor retention of the water column occur. The ball and seat should be cleaned if contaminated with grit or debris.
Can it be installed underground?
Keep the valve accessible where practical so it can be inspected and serviced if required.
Is a pressure rating specified?
The allowable pressure depends on the complete installed system and its components
Are your prices MRP or dealer rate?
Every price on this site is MRP, inclusive of tax. It is the same for everyone — there is no separate dealer login or hidden rate. For bulk quantities, send a bulk enquiry and we will quote on volume.
Why is GST 5% on some products and 18% on others?
Micro-irrigation equipment — drip and sprinkler systems — attracts 5% GST under Indian tax rules. General plastic pipe and fittings attract 18%. The rate that applies is shown on each product page rather than assumed.
Do I have to buy a whole box of small fittings?
No. Small drip fittings such as joiners and end caps arrive boxed — 100 to a bag, for instance — but you order in pieces and can buy a single one. The box quantity and its price are shown alongside the per-piece MRP so you can see both, and any product with a genuine minimum order states it on its page and on its data sheet.
